COVID-19 inspires new tradition when it comes to blowing out the birthday candles

Scotch Plains, NJ – June 23, 2020 – Covid-19 has changed also every aspect of daily life. People no longer work in offices, they’re working remotely. Many haven’t seen friends of family for months. When shopping at the local grocery store, almost everyone is donning a face mask. Covid-19 has changed the way many of us think and it’s altering many of our traditions as well. Where once blowing out the candles was a fun right of passage, blowing all over a cake is now a sure way to ensure that no one will want to share that birthday cake, no matter how delicious it looks. Not lighting the celebratory candles on a birthday cake simply isn’t an option. A new product solves the dilemma – just fan them out!

Fan Out The Candles was launched by Amanda Savino. The company is eager to help families and friends around the world safely celebrate birthdays and special events even in times of COVID-19. The brightly coloured celebratory handheld fans are made of environmentally friendly bamboo, which unlike plastic, is a long-lasting yet renewable resource. Customers can choose a fan with one of four different sayings “Fan Out The Candles,” “It’s My Birthday, “I’ll Keep my Germs to Myself,” and “Make a Wish.”

“The idea came to me when I was thinking about blowing out the candles on my own cake,” explains Savino. “Before the coronavirus, very few people thought about the germs they were spreading by blowing all over a cake. It was just a fun tradition; but now that we’re all hyper-aware of the dangers, the bacteria and the viruses all around us, it doesn’t make sense to continue to blow out the candles. It becomes obvious if you think about any other food being handed to you after your host blows all over it. No one would think it was acceptable or sanitary.”

Fan Out The Candles is eager to make new traditions out of traditional birthday celebrations. Where once it was considered good luck to blow all the candles out at once, Savino encourages people to fan out the candles all at once with once big sweeping motion. Unlike birthday candles which are wastefully thrown out at the end of the birthday party, the Fan Out The Candles fan can be kept by the person celebrating the birthday as a lovely memento of the day.

Fan Out The Candles fans can be shipped internationally and are available at www.fanoutthecandles.com
